We are looking to fill one postdoctoral research position focusing on exciting Gene Drive research in Drosophila melanogaster.
Position Description: A postdoctoral research associate position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Valentino Gantz in the Section of Cell and Developmental Biology at the University of California San Diego. The research for this position research will focus on developing in the fruit fly strategies to control Gene Drive constructs, for their safe development in the laboratory and as remediation strategies for field applications.The appointment will be for one year initially with potential for renewal. A Ph.D. degree in genetics, molecular or developmental biology, or a related discipline
Research experience with insects (preferably Drosophila melanogaster)
Solid molecular biology and biochemistry skills
CRISPR/Cas9 experimental experience
Primary publications in peer-reviewed journals demonstrating excellence in at least one of the above areas
